History Overview: Chongqing dogs originated in the mountains and surrounding areas of China’s Sichuan-Yunnan border.
They are loyal, intelligent, courageous, agile species. Chongqing Dog are medium-sized dogs, square -built, great strength for his size and muscular. Their body are covered with short harsh coat. From the withers and the spinal column is sparsely furnished with coat radiating to 3 cm on each side and extending lengthwise including the croup, above the tail from the root to its tip.
Body Length/Shoulder Height: The ratio of body length to shoulder height is 10:9.
Thorax/Shoulder Height: The chest is close to the elbow height. The chest is half the height of the shoulder. The length of skull and the length of the muzzle approximately 2: 1. Height to elbow about half height at withers. The female can be slightly longer than the males.
Chongqing dogs should be fearless, confident and calm. They are loyal to the owner and the entire family, and a great guard dog, known for its good alertness and courage. They do not trust strangers until they know they are of no threat. Guardian of property and family, fearless, muscular, tough and agile. In the past, it has been used for hunting.
The head is strong and has a width; the head skin has obvious vertical wrinkles, the frontal break is obvious, and the head is wide, which makes the dog have its own facial features. The head must be in proportion to the body, neither too light nor too heavy. The muzzle department should be as wide and powerful as possible. The coordination of the head depends on the balance between the tone and the skull. Whether viewed from the front or from the side, the muzzle must always be proportionate to the skull 2.1, that is, the head must not be too small.Muzzle should be as broad and powerful as possible. The dark mask is confined to muzzle and must be in sharp contrast to the colour of the head.
The cranium is wide and flat, the occipital bone is less pronounced, and the forehead is wrinkled, trapped between the two eyes.
Skull: The skull is flat between ears. Square on top. Natural wrinkles on top of the skull.
Stop: Well defined.
Forehead: The forehead forms a distinct stop with the bridge of nose. Slightly loose and fine wrinkles without excess on the skull.
Nose: Black nose and large nostrils, under no circumstances liver colour, red or brown.
The muzzle is strong, not pointed, narrow, and not short or shallow. The front of the muzzle is preferably black. When the mouth is closed, the canine teeth and front teeth of the jaw must not be exposed and the tongue cannot be exposed.Muzzle: Strong, square, noticeably shorter than the skull. Broad from root to tip of the nose, not snipy, with moderately obvious folds. The line of the muzzle forms a very obtuse angle upwards
The lips make up the shape of the muzzle. The upper lip is thick and clumpy, filling the space formed by the prominent jaw, with lower canine teeth below. Moderate suede, not too large or too long.
Lips: Tight with good pigmentation
Mouth: Tongue, gums, flews and roof of mouth, bluish black is preferred. Pink spotted tongue permissible. Solid pink tongue highly undesirable.
Jaws/Teeth: Jaw strong with undershot bite and set square to the jaws. Undershot bite more than 5 mm, undesirable.
Well-developed cheeks, well proportioned with strong jaws, with no obvious bulges. The cheeks blend with the muzzle with a slight curve.

Dark eyes, not too small, slightly rounded, slightly protruding. Eyelids must be black. Eyes convey the expression of thinking, a dignified look.
Eyes: Dark brown or hazel, fairly large, oval shaped and show no haw. Slightly protruding but never exaggerated. Eye rims must be dark

Set on sides of the skull. Medium sized, triangular, inclining forward and firmly pricked. Not cropped.
BODY: Moderate wrinkle on the withers. The body is somewhat longer than the height at the withers 10.9
NECK: Medium length, strong, set well on the shoulder.
The backline is nearly horizontal, with slight folds at the neck and shoulders, strong waist, and well-developed muscles.
Topline: Slightly fall behind shoulders, rising above the level of the croup.
Height and weight should be proportional, adult male shoulder height 40-45cm, adult bitch 35-40cm
The tail position is high, stays straight stiffen and carried high. moderately long, round at base and tapering to a fine point. The bottom of the tail to the tip of the tail is thick to thin, the tail has strength, can not be curled, is the outstanding characteristic of this breed.
Slightly oblique, wide, slightly arched.
Wide and full. The chest develops well.

Forequarters:

Hindquarters:
~Thigh: Well built thigh with strong muscle.
~Stifle: Well bent.。
~Hock joint: Firm, well let down and parallel to each other.
~Hind feet: Thigh and firm. Well knuckled up and strongly padded. Not hare-footed. Nail short.
GAIT/MOVEMENT: Robust and powerful . Back level, firm with no indication of roll. Stride free, reaching in front and straight without high action. Should not move close behind nor paddle nor plait in front.
LIMBS
The front leg is straight and the bone size is larger. The distance between the legs is large to give chest development space.
Strong, muscular, shoulder blade wide and sloping.
Neither too close to the side of the chest nor valgus.
Good muscle development.
Down. No valgus nor inversion.
Medium size, moderately curved, compact.
The muscles are very strong and the muscles are hard and visible.

COAT

Note: The male dog has two testes that are clearly normal and completely placed in the scrotum.
